Important news !
It’s the first time that the Electoral Commission seems (we must remain cautious…) to give a schedule regarding the process, and the date when the Parliament would be able to convene for the first time.
And it would be the proof that the EC doesn’t plan to issue a lot of yellow/red cards (to disqualify for fraud candidates who won on december 23).
“The Election Commission (EC) has affirmed that it will process red and yellow card cases so that there are enough members of parliament for the house to meet by January 15th.
EC member Praphan Naikowit stated that the EC is confident it can approve enough MPs and process enough cases by January 15th to allow parliament to convene.
The newly established constitution deems that 95 percent of the parliament must be available to hold a meeting with a number of 456 MPs. At the moment the EC is still processing candidates who submitted their credentials and reported for duty.
A major factor is also the ongoing issue of red and yellow cards which has made the amount of MPs available for duty ambiguous.” (PRD)
Or… very paranoid people could think : “EC can take such a stance, because it knows… that it won’t matter at all, because PPP is going to be disbanded”.
More seriously, it’s still a risk (Supreme Court will look at one case on january 15).
