I remind you the main figures : thai exports reached 152,48 billions USD in 2007, that’s a 17,5% increase compare to 2006.
However, in THB, the increase is 6,4 %.
Let’s have a look now at the details.
Here is a first view (BOT datas, table 46.1)

We can see that “manufacturing” records a whooping 19,1 % growth.
However, this general classification can be misleading. “Canned food” for instance, or “Dog and car food” are sub-groups of “Manufacturing”…
Difficult to compare them with the car industry, as far as added value is concerned.
We should naturally put these in “Agriculture”. Same with all the textile industry, footwear etc. Poor value.
This is why, we need a more detailed view (BOT, table 47.1).
I’ve grouped many items. For instance “sugar” and “molass” and “fishery” into “Agricultural products”. Or “glass” with “ceramic” etc.

How to read it ?
Exports for car industry reached 10 billions USD in 2006, and 12,8 billions in 2007, that’s a 28 % increase year on year, and it represents (only) 8,4 % of the total exports in 2007.
