The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the 2009 budget, when the government is to run a deficit of Bt249.5 billion or 2.5 per cent of gross domestic product [8 billions USD].The expenditures are set at Bt1.8 trillion, up from Bt1.75 trillion in the 2008 fiscal year. Revenue would be Bt1.585 trillion, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee. (Nation)
Fiscal year 2009 will start 1 october 2008. For the current fiscal year, the Junta has forecasted a deficit of 165 billions THB.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Surapong Suebwonglee, says the budget framework for the fiscal year 2009 is run under the assumption that Thailand’s economy will grow 5.5 to six per cent, and the GDP will increase to a level of 9.98 trillion baht, while the country’s inflation will stay at 3.5 per cent.
