Thais authorities believe in the Power of the Verb.
A problem arises ? Say the words : “we are working on it”.
Even though the result is an astonishing, and repetitive, and ridiculous tete-a-queue.
For instance, when the Commerce Ministry swear to suppress “piracy“, for the 5457 th times, I mean everybody is laughing.
But, imperturbable, they will continue, ad nauseam.
Last example : The United States Trade Representatives has recently removed Thailand from the Watch List to the Priority Watch List due to increasing piracy in the country.
That should hurt.
Therefore, it was urgent to “do” something. A nice press release will do the trick.
That’s impressive ! A request to set up a “working committee“.
I’m willing to give to the Minister – and for free- my list of good pirated DVD shops in Bangkok. And software too.
Sometimes it’s difficult to draw a line between indecency and stupidity…
