Consumer price index (CPI) in April increased 1,8 % from March and 6,2 % from April 2007, the highest in the past 23 months (official report here).
The index hit 123,6 compare to 116,4 in april 2007.
Core CPI (excluding food and energy) rose 2,1 % year on year.
Those figures should -I hope- make the thai officials less arrogant : inflation is a problem and inflation is there. And it won’t go away for the whole year. And it will be over 5 %.
Already, some of them start to open the parachute :”The CPI in May is expected to edge up fairly on the back of increases of local sugar prices and the daily minimum wage for labourers, said Mr. Siripol.
Yes Mister Siripol, it’s just Economy 101 and you have been an assiduous reader of ThaiCrisis.
