According to Air Chief Marshal Weerawit Khong-sak, the deputy director of the Centre for the Promotion of National Strength on Moral Ethics and Values, or the Moral Centre, secondary-school sex education should be replaced by courses that “install good values for parenthood”.
Speaking at a Moral Centre 2008-2009 strategy seminar, he says the group will campaign for the lear-ning of nationalism and standard virtues in an “age-appropriate manner”. Sex education should be replaced by family studies and community activities, he adds.
“Sex education is not so effective because youths still don’t understand sexuality and many have underage sex. The solution is to promote good conscience and morality. We propose that sex education be replaced with family studies at secondary level,” he says. (Daily Xpress)
