PRICES OF CRUDE OIL

Looking at the above charts (USD THB exchange rate and Crude oil spot) does not make happy. However for European Expats dealing with the Euro THB exchange rate the recent increase in the cost of living in Thailand have been somewhat relieved by the appreciation of the Euro. Which was over the last (say) 2 months something like 7%.

What is going on with the BDI, is it the beginning of the end (of the recession)?

Honestly… have you seen the “cliff” just before ? I mean such small “rebound” can be a statistical noise with no meaning whatsoever.
Plus do not forget : all the data show a current, I insist current, fall of international trade. So the downward pressure is still there.
Plus, economy is not linear… we might see the first fallouts of the “threshold effect”… By looking at the fall of the BDI, maybe shipping companies have reduced the number of boats avalaible… a lot… leading therefore to a slight increase of price for the trade still existing.
