Another decisive action of the government (with only 3 month left, before the elections) : karaoke girls.
“Action will soon be taken against karaoke bars that seat scantily clad hostesses by the street to attract customers, Culture Watch Centre director Ladda Tangsuphachai said yesterday.
She said women in provocative dresses should remain inside bars. Police in Bangkok and elsewhere would be asked to keep karaoke bars and other entertainment venues in check. “
She said she was following up an instruction given to her by Culture Minister Khaisri Sriaroon and Deputy Education Minister Varakorn Samkoses. She said the Interior Ministry, which gives permits to entertainment venues, may not renew the permits of uncooperative venues. “(Nation)
Miss Ladda is the director of the Cultural Watchdog Network (within the Culture Ministry). From time to time, she’s coming out in the medias, and announces a crackdown. It’s like an exercise, weekly or monthly, it depends on her current mood and, probably, on the weather too…
Mission of this “center” ? “To protect the nation’s culture and values through the process of surveillance and to disseminate cultural information as a means of providing immunity against cultural mutation; and serving as a focal point of culture monitoring network dedicated to safeguarding of Thai cultural identities.”
Now you can breath again.
Here is a quick summary of the her accomplishments (disclaimer : an “accomplishment” in Thai means only “announcement to give people a good laugh”), or her targets :
–coyotees dancers
-book : Bangkok Inside Out : bad image of Thailand
–VCD : full of sex (80 % of them, she said)
-women with light clothes during Songkhran (not good)
–Miss Universe 2005 : too hot
–movies : too…. we don’t even know
-and of course (an all time classic) : the uniform of female students at university (too short)
This woman is undoubtly a winner. And a master piece within the thai state apparatus, to lead the cleaning campaign against vices and to lead Thailand on the glorious path of peace and prosperity. 😉
I’m pretty sure 90% of the girls at the clubs at RCA, Ekamai or Thonglor on any given night are dressed the same if not more provocatively than karaoke girls.
You’ve got a point ! And it shows that you have some… experience. 😉 I mean field experience.
I propose to call right away miss Ladda.
Virtue shall prevail !
Thanks
