CTX scandal, AEC : Thaksin and attorney-general implicated

Drums are rolling !

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Attorney-General Chaikasem Nitisiri will be among those implicated by the Assets Examination Committee (AEC) in the CTX bomb-scanner scandal.

The AEC resolved unanimously on Tuesday to sue three groups of people for malfeasance, embezzlement and obstructing fair competition for a state project, and would seek Bt6.93 billion in damages, the panel’s spokesman Sak Korsaengruang said Wednesday.

Those targeted in the legal action consist of politicians in power when the CTX purchase took place, members of the executive boards for Airports of Thailand (AOT) and Suvarnabhumi Airport, private legal entities and their Thai and foreign executives involved in the deal, Sak said. (Nation)

The AEC promised last week to reveal everything monday. They are a little bit late. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway. This is Thailand. Being sued, and even charged… is 0,001 % of the judicial process. Therefore, nothing is done.

As I wrote before, the CTX scandal is one of the most obvious and simple corruption cases.

The story started in may 2005 ! The scanners were bought in 2004.

It’s a shame that it took 3 years… to complete such an investigation. Furthermore, the USA conducted their own investigation (because the supplier was US)… An official report was sent to the thai government… But kept secret.

Of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyone still dreaming that this one will be pulled through?

It’s good and healthy to dream.

The very existence of the ASC could be unlawful, according to Thaksin’s lawyers. We’ll have to wait and see whether all the painstaking efforts to bring him to justice will fail for this simple reason.

We can argue about technicalities, and it’s exactly what Thaksin is doing… in all the cases.

ASC was indeed a tool designed by the Junta.

We can blame the first, or the second, or both.

    But that’s not the point.

The point is : even the basic, most obvious, simple, documented case of corruption won’t be solved in Thailand.
