Consumer Confidence Index falls again in may

The Consumer Confidence Index fell for the second consecutive month in May, due to political uncertainty and rising oil prices. The index fell from 79.9 points in April to 78.8 points, its lowest level in the five months of the Samak Sundaravej administration, said the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.

The university is considering whether to revise its annual inflation forecast from 5-5.5 per cent to 6-6.5 per cent. It may also lower its growth forecast of 5-5.5 per cent. (Nation)

Lowest level in 5 months ? We still have a large margin… to go lower.

It’s not a surprise with the running inflation. The index will continue to fall.

As for the forecast, the university is smarter than the government. The inflation rate (on the year) will be higher than 6 %, it’s almost a certainty (chart here).
