Latest lunacy : ban sale of alcohol… during all public holidays

Less than 2 weeks after being nominated… Public Health Minister (after being… Interior Minister)… Chalerm is back with a grand idea.

After, I know who were the New Year Bombers, after Let’s ban a TV channel, after Let’s ban websites for lese-majeste and after I’m not a gangster, I’am the chief of gangster, Chalerm is striking again… this time against alcohol ! A very bold move.

Public Health Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung Thursday unveiled his plan to ban the sale of alcohol beverage on public holidays.

Chalerm said he had assigned the Disease Control Department to consider invoking the Alcohol Beverage Control Act to issue a directive to ban the sale on public holidays, such as New Year Day, Songkran holidays and religious holidays. (Nation)

This guy is obviously a danger for himself (?) and the society.

Isn’t religious holiday already got a ban?
Every year, Songkran became a sport for something like drunk-driving-road-kill contest.
It’s a nice idea, but as US history had proven. Alcohol ban does not make it goes away.

PS-Chamlong must have gone nut and rush to shake his hand over this.

We all know that there is a -serious- alcohol problem in Thailand.

But a ban on sale doesn’t solve the issue.

It’s like to say : “you can not kill yourself on New Year Eve, but the day before it’s okay, you can drink to death and then slam your car into a pickup. Go in peace”.

    It’s meaningless.

It’s like now : go to a convenient store (or a restaurant)… You can’t buy alcohol between 2 and 5 PM. Why ? Nobody knows ! But for sure, it’s for your good. The dirty corrupted thai politicians said so.

It’s like that. At 4h59, go to hell. At 5h01, you can buy all the booze you want and get pissed off.

At 1h40 you can order a cold beer at Fuji Restaurant with your lunch. At 2h01, go fxxx yourself.

It’s a perfect summary of the twisted logic that hurts this country.

    Absurdity to the highest level.

As for Chalerm, I mean, it’s grotesque. No comment.

but, there are many Thais who will easily believe that Chalerm has now turned a new leaf and become more “moral” person… some might go as far as saying, “who says the government is immoral? they banned the alcohol sale on public holidays!”… no kidding.

Anyway… We could get mad… endlessly.

The point is : Thailand will remain behind until it get rid of all those inane politicians (the old generation).

    All of them.

“but, there are many Thais who will easily believe that Chalerm has now turned a new leaf and become more “moral” person”

    Yah. Right.

Chalerm will not drink alcohol on public holidays?

    Yah, right.

That won’t change anything, they will stock up the day before. Like the other stupid law, from 2 to 5 no buying alcohol, I got caught once, couldn’t believe it.As if they had nothing better to do.
