Joke Of The Day : Abhisit the… thai Obama ?

You have a few minutes ? And you want to smile ? This article (Nation) should do the trick : “Will Abhisit ever become Thailand’s very own Barack Obama ?

Holly God, another candidate for the title of the Asian-Black-Jesus ! We have already one though (within the Education Ministry read here).

Anyway, it’s a purely rethorical question, because the answer is obvious : never. Okay to be fair, I would say “unlikely”. 😉

Abhisit, the so called new thai politician, educated in the UK… does exactly what the old “bosses” within the Democrat Party were doing : AKA thai politics.

It’s usually messy… And even dirty. 😉

Abhisit is totally inaudible on big society issues… he just follows, like a good dog, the godfathers : Internet censorship, lese-majeste, the infamous Internal Security Act ?… Nobody. Silence. Economy ? Nothing new, nothing really different than the PPP : spend, cut the interest rates, mega projects etc.

There is one common point though between Abhisit and Obama : the “union mantra”, cooked in an asian sauce of course (with a lot of zen salt and pepper).

The country is politically deeply divided… following real and scary social divisions ? Abhisit has no solution to offer, just “vote for me”, and this is precisely the problem : the people do not vote for him ! … He can just repeat ad nauseam : “Thai must unite. Love each other”, blablabla. The usual. Short. Very short.

Anyway. There is one interesting thing though in the article :

He called on the government to stop amending laws, and instead dissolve the House and hold a new round of elections, which can be monitored by the PAD.

Watch out for what you wish for mister Abhisit…! Your party is regularly defeated (last time, december 2007 at general elections, like in 2006, 2005 and 2001).

So ? To organize elections now would lead only to another humiliation for the Democrat Party and its leader… Abhisit.

So what the hell is he talking about ?

Maybe slightly sun-tanned he could have a better shot?

I keep wondering why Chuan keeps on talking after Abhisit.

It unfortunately all works in the favor of the currently elected govt.

I agree with you TC. Abhisit is quickly turning himself into Thailand’s political jester, never to be taken seriously.

It is quite clear now, the Dem doesnot know how to play democratic politic. Instead of being a voice of reason, garnering support, present a strong platform and campaign with such an opportunity. They are calling for dissolution…
The dissolution part are PAD’s job, aint the Dem and PAD ever talk about division of labor?

For the dissolution call, my guess is they gonna pull another boycott and without a governing body, PAD gonna run free and force a coup.

Abhisit is likened to Barack Obama.

Today Thaksin likens himself to Nelson Mandela.

We should all remember that Abhisit and the Democrats couldn’t even win an election with a coup behind them.

If the Democrat party was a horse, you would definitely shoot it.
