Abhisit pays his military friends back : green light to buy new jet fighters

Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Thursday gave his blessing for the Air Force to buy six additional Grippen fighters from Sweden starting next fiscal year with the budget spreaded over five years.

The planned procurement would complete the deployment of a squadron.

Prawit said the financing would be allocated from the Air Force budget, hence not be a burden on the government spending.

The new squadron of fighter jet is justified in order to decomission old aircraft in service for more than 30 years, he said. (Nation)

What a pile of warm bullshit.

Abhisit is paying his friends back … his masters I should say… The thai army has elected him last december, in a way (a twisted way). So now, time for a little gift… Between friends, it’s normal, right ?

The Air Force has already 6 Gripen planes (read here). The plan was adopted under the Junta. Total cost (officially) : 19,5 billions THB.

What about the cheap rethoric of the Defense Minister : it’s on the Air Force budget therefore it’s not a burden for the state ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

And from where the (increasing) budget of the Air Force is coming, dumbass ? From the Virgin Mary ? I mean who isย  fooled ? How arrogant and stupid those people can be. It’s astonishing.

And no, no, no, we shall repeat : to buy jet fighters today is not a priority, even to “complete a squadron” ! We are amid a full blown economic crisis… and those inane generals want their toys… And Abhisit of course is happy to please them.

It’s absurd to buy those expensive weapons… when the government is seeking… loans to finance the its policies.

The whole plan should have been scraped. Or at least postponed.

Change with Abhisit ? Yes we can’t.

“We are amid a full blown economic crisisโ€ฆ and those inane generals want their toys”

well, most probably Thai generals have heard the latest rumor and are getting ready ๐Ÿ™‚ :

World economic crisis is top security threat: U.S.

I mean – imagine all those Rohignya, and perhaps also Karen, and Khmer, and hell, who knows – probably even hoards of hungry jobless chinese, and God forbid – N. Koreans – all rushing into Thailand to seek a job and a morsel of sticky rice to chew on !
surely brave and patriotic Thai army have to be fully prepared to deal with them (as they handsomely tackled Rohignyas recently ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) ! so, all those Cobra war games and now jet fighters – fit quite well into picture of the mentioned economic tsunami heading towards Thailand.

generals are always concerned about “security”, you know.

and military-industrial complex never are losers even in biggest economic disasters. ๐Ÿ˜‰ they always get their budget (as in US back in – was that Oct? – while first bailout was debated – behind the scenes the equal chunk of dough was quitely passed to dudes in uniforms and nobody hardly noticed).

100 %. But… do not forget something… The inane US generals buy to… themselves ! The famous US military industrial complex.

What about Thailand ? The gear is coming from outside. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Always.

So we can’t even say that the Toys Christmas Tree creates jobs in Thailand.

As for the gear itself, indeed jet fighters are going to help to kick the dirty ass of the boat people. Plus the cambodian of course (around the Phra Viharn temple). And Singapore (we never know). Burma ? Nah, they are friends now (juicy business). Vietnam ? Mai ru.

Next step : the submarine. Yellow ? We still don’t know. But after the grotesque “carrier”, the Thai Navy is dreaming of a submarine. No, I’m not joking. I’m not.

the last time that I heard of the Air Force bombing was when they bombed the Thai students (and Giles father?) who were hiding in the hills after being shotup by the Village Scouts and the Red Gaurs for protesting against military rule in 1976

so, are the airforce planning to bomb their own people again?

or is it just so the prince can play with his toys even more?

I’m now fully expecting some Thai official to say:
“also, $20 billion baht in spending it will stimulate the economy”… sssh, of course it will, but in Sweden.
