Damned ! Thailand has to charge an official for corruption…

No way back. The story is like a true show case of the daily and large corruption that rottens the whole country when it comes to business.

Evidences are overwhelming. Money was traced. The 2 americans were convicted.

But like tango dancing, you need 2 people… And in Thailand, the name of the second dancer is Siriwan, ex TAT governor.

Hollywood producers Gerald and Patricia Green have been convicted of money laundering and bribing a Thai official, the US attorney’s office announced on Monday.

Gerald and Patricia Green, convicted of bribing the former governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand

Gerald and Patricia Green were found guilty late last Friday on charges related to their running of the Bangkok International Film Festival. The verdict was not announced until Monday, California time.

The verdict could open Hollywood up to more investigations regarding overseas business.

More to the point, it could open an investigation and possible charges against Juthamas Siriwan, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand at the time the Greens bribed and connived their way into control of the BIFF.

Mrs Juthamas has denied any involvement. But it may be difficult now for the National Anti-Corruption Commission to ignore the conviction of the Greens for sending her bribes of $1.8 million, or about 72 million baht at the time. (Bangkok Post)

It may be difficult now…” Indeed It is. πŸ˜‰

Damned ! It would have been much easier if those bloody yankees didn’t follow up this embarassing story. πŸ˜‰

Let’s see how this thai drama will unfold…

It took almost 2 years for the US to close the case. The story started end of 2007. How much more time Thailand needs ?

December 19, 2007 – A West Hollywood film producer and his wife were arrested by FBI agents Tuesday on charges of bribing a Thai government official to secure a contract to run an annual film festival in Bangkok, authorities said. (Los Angeles Times)

“How much more time Thailand needs ?”

Bedwyr may be wrong, indeed Bedwyr would dearly love to be wrong but Bedwyr is convinced that this harpie will never even see the inside of a courtroom, let alone a jail. More’s the pity.

And Thailnd’s reputation will sink even lower than the subterranean level it is already at, and the Thais won’t understand why.

Everybody else understand perfectly, but the Thais won’t understand and they will cry into their Tom Yung Goong about Thailand’s image instead of doing something about Thailand’s substance.

And the 3-ring circus that is the failed state called Thailand continues its delusional parade.

It will be difficult as the corruption runs deep everywhere, the only officially approved target for anti-corruption is of course…Taksin. And even with him most things were left alone as it involved other corrupt officials, so they got him with his wife and so didn’t upset the applecart.

They really don’t want to go after her but may be reluctantly forced to due to the US case, it will probably fade away though through the years and never be heard of again.

Thailand, despite the weekly hub PR is only really the hub of corruption (and prostitution of course). The rest is wistful thinking as they will not address the systemic problems that benefit only the minority of officials allowing and profiting from it.

Wouldn’t most nationalities be embarrassed to death being famous as hubs of corruption and prostitution and little else, no not here though as they pretend it doesn’t exist.

Taksin got prosecuted and charged but he didnt serve, anyhow, serving jail time for corruption is ridiculous since they cant even get people jail for murderer.
